A visit to Little Snoring Woods

21st March, Little Snoring, Norfolk

David Tipling is a wildlife photographer who shoots I believe with Olympus kit. He has won awards in international competitions, and has this Hide set up in the woods past Little snoring in Norfolk. I had seen the Hide advertised and for £75 for the day it seemed good value. I was accompanied by Robby Holgate from the photography club And we arrived at the designated meeting area at 9 am. It was a short walk to the Hide and we were very quickly set up. We had an infinity pool in front of us and then a staged area that was very natural. There were strategically placed tree stumps which had Bird feed inserted into them. There was also a couple of small one day old chicks that were there to attract the Sparrow Hawks and the buzzards.

We were there all day and saw a variety of woodland birds including Jays and Woodpeckers, at one time there were three greatest spotted woodpeckers to photograph, and at one point I was luckily enough to catch two of them having a disagreement.

However, the sparrowhawk and the buzzard were a no-show, which was disappointing. However, the set up was good enough to make me want to return and have another go on another day.
