Whipsnade Zoo
10th March, Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire
A visit to Whipsnade Zoo with Barry Roberts and Bob Gringham from the photography club. We arrived for 10 am opening time and were the first car on the premises. I did the usual circuit of the Zoo. However this time the Bears were out of hibernation so I saw the brown bears for the first time in about a year. The Rhinoceros were very interesting this time facing off and almost head-butting each other however the Lions as usual were not be seen outside, and when touring the Asia area all of the Deer were congregated around the feeding stations and there was really little to photograph. We stopped for lunch and then went to see the Butterfly House and the Ringtail Lemars who decided it was too cold for them, and didn’t bother to come out and see us.
And enjoyable day out with Bob and Barry a few interesting pictures but the weather had remained misty and overcast all day so everything looked a little dull. The exception to this was the butterfly house which regardless of the weather outside can be relied on for some interesting pictures.
