Photography and Video Show 2025

11 March, Excel Centre, London

The photography and video show is usually held at the NEC in Birmingham. This year for a change it has moved to the Excel centre east of London. I preferred this as it meant leaving Stevenage by car to parking underneath the exhibition hall took only one hour. This was quicker and easier than public transport. I was accompanied by Keith Bringlow and Darren Summers from the photography club. The show itself was smaller than at the NEC, my guess would be about 2/3 of the size. I know from my own experience exhibiting at the Excel Centre, it is very expensive and I suspect a number of Traders, companies and organisations would’ve been deterred by the costs.

As usual, there was some very aggressive show pricing with many of the brands offering approximately 15% discount from their advertised pricing. This was not enough enough to tempt me. Although Darren did buy a tripod and a set of magnetic filters. I subsequently took advantage of one of the show offers and ordered a CF express card reader from Amazon the following day, for a 20% discount.

As well as the retailers exhibiting and the camera manufacturers exhibiting, there were a number of mini studio set ups for as to photograph if we wished. This was better than I remember last year.

Next year the show returns to the NEC in Birmingham, although I do plan to attend I know that the journey will take twice as long and consequently it will be a lot less convenient for me.
